The Nelson Mandela University firmly believes in the strength and benefits of a well defined higher education network society. The active development of such networks enhances its internationalisation, and is clearly demonstrated by its international partnerships.

The University not only uses these partnerships to enhance student mobility, but also to promote the internationalisation of our curriculum as well as international research partnerships.

The University promotes internationalisation through its partnerships based on the four principles that define an internationalised university namely: the internationalised nature of the student body, the international orientation of the academic staff, the internationalised nature of the curriculum and the international nature of its research activities.

The Nelson Mandela University is committed to developing its international links with universities from developing countries, with specific reference to Africa. However, it also values its links with universities from the North, and uses these to develop and stimulate its drive towards excellence.
