“That’s the Africa we want.”

So said Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof Address Malata about African universities working together across disciplines at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the institution and Nelson Mandela University.

The parties established the MOU to foster international cooperation in education and research between the two Universities as well as South Africa and Malawi broadly.

On 30 May, Nelson Mandela University received an international visitor from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, United States of America (USA). Ms Tia Van Hester approached the Office for International Education earlier in May, interested in visiting our Institution to discuss the opossibility of an exchange programme.

On 8 May 2019, the Office for International Education (OIE) welcomed eight short programme students and two faculty members from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky from the United States of America (USA) to Nelson Mandela University. The aim of this short programme was for these students, currently studying Education, to do their experiential learning within Nelson Mandela Bay, by teaching at a primary school as part of their required training.
