UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION PROCESS- 2026 APPLICATIONS

 

International Applicants Admission Requirements:


Admission of international applicants is subject to meeting both the university and the faculty’s admission requirements as stipulated in the Admission Policy of the Nelson Mandela University.
 

APPLICATION & CLOSING DATE

Applications for early admission (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad applications) should be submitted by 2 August 2025.

Late applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad applications) will however be considered after this date, based on academic merit, until 29 September 2025.

Places are limited and it is therefore in your best interest to submit your application early.

  • MBChB applications close on 30 June 2025. Places in the MBChB degree are limited and it is therefore in your best interest to submit your application early.
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and Bachelor or Radiography (Diagnostic) applications close on 29 June 2025. Places in the Bachelor or Radiography (Diagnostic) & Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degrees are limited, and it is therefore in your best interest to submit your application early.

Please Note : All international applicants are advised to please not send cash through the mail or leave application documents and cash with any unauthorised persons.

ALL INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS ARE TO TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • All international applicants completing an online application are required to make a non-refundable application fee of R500.00,
  • Online application supporting documents maybe uploaded on the application platform, 
  • Final School leaving results when applying with either international credentials/ final grade 12 results, if you have completed a South African grade 12 curriculum or those currently in Grade 12 (Final Grade 11 results),
  • Valid Passport or National Identity Document or Birth Certificate,
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English),
  • Should you require on campus accommodation, please indicate when applying for academic admission.

Applicants who are studying or have studied at a university within or outside the Republic of South Africa, must submit an academic transcript that covers the period of study, especially if they intend on being granted exemption for modules or courses at university.

Degree Seeking Applicants

To study for a South African degree, applicants are required to have achieved a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. International applicants who would have high school qualifications acquired outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate degree studies. The following supporting documents must be submitted to the Matriculation Board on the address provided below,

  • Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website  https://mb.usaf.ac.za ),
  • Correctly certified copies of the applicant’s school leaving certificate/s certified by either a South African High Commission, Consulate, Trade Mission, or a Public Notary in applicant’s home country,
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English),
  • Exemption fee as determined by the Matriculation Board (see website  https://mb.usaf.ac.za ),

Applicants from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo Brazzaville will have to apply for Matriculation Exemption directly with Matriculation Board.

Please submit all correctly certified copies by mail when applying by e-mail when you had challenges when attempting to apply online. The University’s faculties have different APS (Admission Points System) for admission. It is important that when applying to the University applicants include copy of school leaving results and/or academic record if, they have studied at the university.
 


TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRAMMES (HIGHER CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA)

Should you wish to apply for Higher Certificates or Diploma qualification you can apply directly to the university without an Exemption Application or Certificate.

 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS

Provide proof of the English Proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching (the University prefers the applicant to take the IELTS at an overall score of 6 and TOEFL at an average score of 80–104 for Undergraduate programmes).


UNIVERSITY FEES


Fees generally increase between 5 and 10 percent per year.
Please contact the University in November 2025 to obtain the final fees for the 2026 academic year.

NB: Unfortunately, there are no bursary or scholarship opportunity offered to international undergraduate students at the university, it is therefore, advisable for you to inquire about the costs of tuition fees and/or accommodation fees for on-campus accommodation by email to:  intfees@mandela.ac.za
