A Welcome from the Senior Director, Prof Judy Peter

As Senior Director, I provide strategic leadership for internationalisation at Nelson Mandela University, advancing the University’s commitment to Africanisation, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Global South collaboration. My portfolio integrates strategic international partnerships and projects, international student administration and support, and study abroad, finance and fundraising, with a strong focus on access, sustainability, and global engagement.
Central to this work is the African Footprint Project, A VC – led flagship initiative that positions the University as an Africa-centred, globally connected institution, advancing equalising South–South and South–North collaborations aligned with SDGs 3, 4 and 17, African development priorities, and socially responsive scholarship. Through this integrated portfolio, I advance an internationalisation agenda that is ethically grounded, Africa-centred, and globally connected, reinforcing the University’s leadership role within the Global South.
